While we decided to skip Four Tet’s performance in the early hours of Sunday (rain and overall exhaustion being the main factors) we still kept our eye on performance that was scheduled for later that day. Kieran Hebden (aka Four Tet) played a show with Mats Gustaffson (whose band The Thing also performed at BE) – a wild mix of electronics and free jazz improvisation.
While the show started out in a rather quiet and unassuming way (at times we wondered if Mr. Gustafsson’s mic was turned off) it eventually grew into a torrent of squealing sax and clicks and cuts and glitches. And then it went back….and then the torrent started growing again (reportedly Mats Gustafsson had to pour out all the saliva out of a sax during the quieter moments of the set).
Below we collected some of the tweets for both Four Tet solo performance and his set with Mats Gustafsson + some tweets related to The Thing

I don’t think I’ve ever had as much straight up fun at #bigearsknox as last night’s Black Twig Pickers>Tal National>The Thing>Fats Waller Dance Party shows.
