If MTV of the 21st century is any indication, music videos should’ve been dead and gone a long time ago. Lucky us, though, since we got artists like Leaving Richmond who take as great of a care of thee visual as they take of thee soundscapes/sonics they create.
Our first exposure to the visual side of LR came in the form of Temporality composed entirely out of archival / educational footage. Impressive as it was, video for Adherence takes it up a notch – action-packed animation with a soundtrack that hints at the kinds of dangers expecting the heroine/warrior in the unnamed city of the future (spoiler – worry not, she’ll do fine in the end).
Ponder it for a moment and you can easily see a potential for an entire video game with this one (there are certainly parallels to Alone in the Dark). For now, though, the gorgeous video/soundtrack will suffice.
Video for Adherence is a collaboration with Los Angeles artists Migeul and Daniel Rivas Rizo and was inspired by Joan of Arc painting by Jules Bastien-Lepage
