Shane-Parish-Disintegrated-Satellites

Handing over the mic to artists/musicians who break down their new albums track by track/share the thought process behind the creation. Today we’ll hear from Athens, GA based guitarist Shane Parish whose new EP Disintegrated Satellites is available via Bandcamp.

You can find Shane’s work on Tzadik, Cabin Floor Esoterica and Verses Records (to name a few labels). He’s also a member of Ahleuchatistas (“avant-technical, post-Beefheart, improv-core, math-metal, art-damage, punk-rock power trio from Asheville, North Carolina”) and “a free folk/improv chamber string trio” The Library of Babel.

This is my first recording session since moving to Athens.

Disintegrated Satellites blends shades of blue and texture over a pulse that I return to so often it must be the shape of my heart beat. The rings of Saturn are made of disintegrated satellites, they are the remains of once-orbiting objects which now collectively form a glowing halo in their afterlife.

Coagulate is about fluidity and blockage. It sets traps and mechanisms that test the fortitude of the center’s ability to hold itself together.

Anything Helps is a blues of sorts, a lament for suffering the indignities of capitalism.
