The overall tone is one of quiet passion, with mostly acoustic instruments, but the occasional drum thunder will remind the listener of just who these folks are. – Trouser Press on “Wine, Women, Roses”
The World Of Skin (initially called Skin) was a collaboration between Swans members Michael Gira and Jarboe. They released 3 albums, two of which came out only in Europe, but a self-titled compilation that included their first releases came out in US in 1988.
In 1997, Young God Records released double CD set entitled “Children Of God / World Of Skin”, a combination of 1987 Swans album and a “best-of” of The World Of Skin.
