9 From 2009 – Vol. 2 – Ancient Sky, Celan, Shrinebuilder and more

This is a second volume dedicated to new bands/supergroups that produced albums this year.  See Vol.1 here.
Ancient Sky (MySpace) – Brooklyn band that includes members of Majority Rule, Darkest Hour, Verse En Coma, Ghastly City Sleep and You Are The Drum. They released their self-titled album on Perpetual Motion Machine label.
Celan (MySpace) – A band that includes members of Redux Orchestra, Unsane, Oxbow and Flu.id. They released their debut “Halo” via German label Exile On Mainstream.
Shrinebuilder (MySpace) – Includes members of Sleep/OM, Melvins, Neurosis and Saint Vitus. They released their self-titled debut via Neurot Recordings.
White Sh-t – A band that includes members of Wrangler Brutes and Big Business/Melvins. They released their debut LP “Sculpted Beef” via Post Present Medium label.
Volcano Choir (MySpace) – VC is a collaboration between members of Collections Of Colonies Of Bees and Bon Iver.  They released their debut “Unmap” via Jagjaguwar label.
Zurich – A project featuring Tony F Wilson (Knives Ov Resistance) and Neil Halstead (Slowdive / Mojave 3). It started in 1994, when Halstead was working on Slowdive’s final effort “Pygmalion”. The tracks were recorded but were left untouched until Mark Van Hoen (Locust, Scala) discovered them. The self-titled album came out on Important Records and features appearance by Sarah Peacock (Seefeel).
Beak> (MySpace) – A band that was formed in January of 2009 by three Bristol musicians – Billy Fuller (Fuzz Against Junk), Matt Williams (Team Brick) and Geoff Barrow (Portishead). Their self-titled album came out Invada label.
Purling Hiss (MySpace) – Solo project of Birds of Maya guitarist Mike Polize. Self-titled album is available via Permanent Records.
Real Estate (MySpace) – New Jersey band that put out their self-titled album via Woodsist label. They were chosen as by Stereogum website as a band to watch.
