Since Lee from Algiers was kind enough to do a track by track of the debut from his new project Nun Gun for us, we thought it would be nice to highlight this companion release as well. Vinyl companion to Mondo Decay includes numerous remixes of Stealth Empire off of the original plus a couple of bonus tracks.
Inspired by the semi-recent reopening of the famed South Florida pressing plant founded by reggae pioneer Joe Gibbs and later taken over by Studio One’s Clement “Sir Coxsone” Dodd, Mark Stewart and Nun Gun have continued to work on new music, wanting to use the machines that pressed so many of their favourite records.
This limited edition vinyl Dub companion to the music on Mondo Decay features new bass and space explorations by famed Dub producer Adrian Sherwood; 5 brand new collaborations with Mark Stewart; Mourning [A] BLKstar and ONO reclaiming their tracks and pushing them to the final sonic frontier; as well as Lee, Ryan, and Matt Tong cooking up their dirtiest basement dubs.
It’s time to ‘Taste The Bass’, Priced to move!
Limited to 500 copies
And, of course, we heartily recommend everyone to check out the Algiers and their work. Band’s most recent release (as of 2021) is There’s No Year, which came out on Matador. Ryan from Nun Gun/Algiers also got another project called Dead Meat that put out “The End of Their World is Coming” LP last year:
It takes its inspiration from the spectral electronics of Wendy Carlos and Caroline K, the grisly boom bap of Havoc/Prodigy and Geto Boys, the punk machinations of Screamers and Big Black, the mutant doom dub of Scientist and Jah Shaka and slivers of EBM, techno, noise and horror soundtracks.
