Psychedelic Space Rock Poster 3 2
Featuring Jon Schlesinger on banjo and guitar, Michael Kiefer on drums, and a dude named Steubs on mandolin, guitar, and electronics, More Klementines are far from a typical excursion into rock-rooted improvisation (if standard examples of the form do indeed exist). The self-assessment of the music as a “sort of Appalachian Krautrock” reinforces this, as does the trio’s use of non-standard instrumentation; along with guitar and drums, there’s banjo and mandolin.
Preceded by I Feel Tractor, Skyelly and Solilians
Talking about jams. No, not the peach/apple ones (though those are good, without a doubt), but the kind that MC5 loved kicking out. Nearly 30-minute jam that More Klementines kicked out at a show featured a veeeeeery slow build-up that eventually turned into a free jazz/punk workout a-la Recurring Dreams by Husker Du followed by an equally slooooow descent. You can find the trio’s record on Twin Lakes Records and Feeding Tube.
