Rose City Band – Sol Y Sombra (h/t Ezra Brooks)

Dead Sound – Into The Void (Music from Memory) / Otherworldly beauty galore on this new one from John Moods and Young Marco, aka Dead Sound – Nic Brown

Matt DeMello – There’s No Place Like Nowhere: Ten Years Later (Salieri Records) / Ten years ago, New York musician Matt DeMello made a record so delightfully unhinged that his friend/producer now teaches it in a college class on music production. “He’ll play the record and then say, ‘Look what this asshole put me through.’ That’s the class,” DeMello says, laughing. “I’ll never pay the rent with this music, but that is the best compliment I’ve ever been paid in my life.”

Marshall Allen – African Sunset /  Marshall Allen, a member of the Sun Ra Arkestra since 1958, is releasing his debut solo album in November. He’s 100 years old! – Blair Millen

Ak’chamel – Rawskulled (Akuphone) / No one does shamanic folk weirdness quite like Ak’chamel. Fantastic record, this – Nic Brown

Soft-Bodied Humans – Kaijupop (Gang of Ducks) / Hey if you like SPACE AMOEBA (1970), you might enjoy Kaijupop, my kaiju-themed quasi-grime album featuring @fire-toolz.bsky.social, Anna Homler, @cadutenorio.bsky.social, Swordman Kitala and more – Blue Tapes

Coded Marking – S/T / If you like shouty post punk and relentless motorik krautrock, you’ll absolutely love this new one from Coded Marking – Gavin Miller

Meemo Comma – Decimation Of I / First listen to today’s new Meemo Comma album, Decimation Of I / Very immersive and haunting ambient/folk horror/modern classical soundtrack scenes. RIYL the spookier end of labels like Woodford Halse and Spun Out Of Control – Third Kind Records

Ella Zirina – Boundless Blue, Sunset Hue (h/t ‪Phil Lesh’s Quadraphonic Bass Pickup)

MASTER BOOT RECORD – HARDWAREZ / Feels like MBR’s tightest yet! Cyber-prog-power metal w/ headbangable riffs, sick melodies, leads – created with synths, chiptune, roaring hard drive noises. Megaman X + Kalmah-ish melodic death vibe. If a live band played this, it would be huge! – mmmmmmmmm

Hart (h/t Discologist) – 136 tracks featuring Angel Olsen, Yasmin Williams, Helado Negro, Daniel Bachman, Feist and many more / 100% of proceeds split evenly between Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, Rural Organizing and Resilience (ROAR), and BeLoved Asheville.
