Upcoming Music Releases – Soccer Mom – You Are Not Going To Heaven (100m)

Brand new EP from this Boston band. It will be available on October 3rd as both digital download and 10″ (via 100m Records).

Mixing an unabashed appreciation for the alternative scene of the early to mid 1990s, Boston’s Soccer Mom have a familiar, but not derivative sound that arouses nostalgia without being stuck in the past.
Putting this EP on, I was instantly reminded of that post-Nirvana world of alternative that briefly existed before it became commercially viable.  The sort of music that was played on the original incarnation of 120 Minutes:  the residuals of jangly ’80s melodies and the feedback and distortion that bands like Loop did so well.
Brainwashed

Absolutely crushing 10″ extended play release from pack-leading, Boston-based noise rock juggernautSoccermom. The quartet’s 2010 single “Bill Cosby In Glamorous Chains” b/w “High On Dad” was an impressive debut, and early shows were remarkable, but Soccermom has further refined its attack. As evidenced by this six-song collection, the ‘Mom continues to set its bearings via sonic references to earlyLilys, Swervedriver and Polvo, but its live performances have become increasingly desperate, dynamic, precise and heavy.
