Download/Streaming Vault – Boston Edition – Skyjelly, Soccer Mom, Night Fruit, Dead Cats Dead Rats

Skyjelly – One-man project, which is described as “a loop-based, sample-filled, middle-eastern, noisy, light and video and sound thing”.  More recently, he uploaded a video for “Motorola Monkey” (see it below), which, appropriately enough, was created with Motorola mobile phone.
You can also listen to his track “Get It On” here, which, despite sharing the name with T. Rex song sounds nothing like its namesake.

Soccermom – A quartet that includes members of local acts E.R., Get Help and Spanish Armada.  Their music was described as “equal parts Sonic Youth and/or Swervedriver” by Built On A Weak Spot. The band is now offering their debut 7″ for download – get it here. Also – check out their song “High On Dad”available via Clicky Clicky Music and/or Boston Band Crush.

Night Fruit – Cambridge, MA based trio that includes Amanda Dellevigne and  Jonathan Gill (both of whom were previously in Hot Box) and drummer Luke Sullivan from Left Hand Does. The band’s single “Sea Blood” was chosen as an mp3 download of the week by Phoenix and the band also performed at Deep Heaven Now festival in Somerville. Phoenix described the song as “a magnetic slow burn of neo-shoegaze, a calm-before-the-storm dreampop firefly that’s chilling in its deceptive reach”.
The band just put together a demo called “Triangles” (see the link below) and they’re going to play a show on October 2nd at TT the Bear’s with The Depreciation Guild and Film School.

Dead Cats Dead Rats –  “Lying somewhere between punk, hard rock, and even at times metal, Dead Cats Dead Rats are a musical force to be reckoned with.” – Knocks From The Underground
“If you miss Nirvana and have ADD –who doesn’t? – check out Dead Cats Dead Rats’ latest album, Riff.  The longest of the nine tracks clocks in at 2:52, and it all sounds more like 1989 Seattle than 2010 Massachusetts.” – !upstarter Punk Reviews
