Song Premiere: Watergate Sandals – Stray

“Stray”, by California’s self-proclaimed scooter rockers Watergate Sandals, starts out in a rather quiet and unassuming way. But that quietness turns out to be deceiving, as gradually they proceed to crank up the fuzz and distortion to the point where nothing is left but a giant squall of feedback.
The vocals are rather hard to decipher, but that may matter less than the fact that they’re just trying to ROCK. And with “Strays” they deliver by mixing all the vital ingredients – the softer, pastoral bits and chunks of pure, swirling noise.
