Boston // Upcoming Live Shows – January 2025

Roundup of live shows happening in Boston area soon!

January 9 – Thalia Zedek Band, Dyr Faser, Hidden Fountain at Notch Brewery

Mood: Trippy, psychedelic, could get loud

Listen

Dyr Faser – Failing Stereos / “Dyr Faser now have 10 album releases under their belt, not to mention EPs and show no signs of sticking to any real formula – other than drowning your ears in satisfying gloop. ‘Falling Stereos’ is a pretty good description of this collection of ten tracks. The padding drum machine adds a strangely unsettling transience to the songs, which cascade around you, offering incredible glimpses of brilliance before they twist around themselves, coiling into an entirely different beast – Weird Bones

Thalia Zedek Band – Perfect Vision / Full of ghosts and grit. Just great track after great track. For fans of Jason Molina, Leonard Cohen, and Vic Chesnutt – William Boyle

Hidden Fountain – Paper Charm / Hidden Fountain is an easy-listening synthesizer demonstration by Chris Braiotta (Shitaly, Planet of Adventure), Tyler Hollis Derryberry (HO-AG, Planet of Adventure), Noell Dorsey (Major Stars, Violet Nox), and Kathleen Mahoney (Kathy Snax, Adult Learners)

January 11 – TotoRobyn, V V N, Saapato, Greg Davis at Transporter

Mood – Lush ambience, field recordings and feminine electronic saxophone

Listen

TotoRobyn – journeys versus destinations / Robyn Alman a.k.a TotoRobyn loves all things synths and swords. Based out of Boston, MA, she loves the exploration of electronic music. TotoRobyn primarily composes ambient, downtempo, dance and chiptune music.

Saapato – Spring at Home (Aural Canyon) / This is a lovely, restorative listening experience – Listening Habit

Keith Fullerton Whitman & Greg Davis – Yearlong / Greg Davis is an internationally recognized electronic musician who has been putting out records & playing shows since 2000 / Davis has released albums on labels such as Important, Kranky, Ekhein, Room40, Install, Home Normal, Digitalis, NNA, Greyfade, Carpark Records, as well on his own Autumn Records. He lives in Burlington VT & owns / operates Autumn Records store in Winooski VT.

January 31 – Sunshine at [Night], Violet Nox, This Bliss, this.xor.that at Cloud & Spirits

Mood: More trippiness, more visuals

Listen

Sunshine [at Night] – Pre-Dawn [Disc 2] / Music. Art. Technology. Enlightenment. Improvised Electronic Experimental Hip Hop

Violet Nox – Hesperia / Ethereal, but not in any kind of new-age cheesy way… a bit of darkness and a lot of entrancing sounds and textures make this one worth repeated listen – Witherwillow Sounds

This Bliss – Radiate / Formed by Nick Zampiello (New Alliance East), and singer-songwriter, Jess Baggia, This Bliss marries drum machines and synths with a pop-sensibility to create noir-inspired electronic songs.
