Song Premiere: Slaylor Moon – Scissor

What should one expect from a project with a name like Slaylor Moon? Could this be a harsh noise project centered on anime? A parody metal band? Judging by “Scissor” it certainly is neither.
“Scissor” resembles nothing less than a gigantic puzzle with all the pieces slowly coming together as the track unfurls.  It kicks off with a very minimal rhythm (think someone hitting lightly on typewriter’s keys), followed by washes of spacey ambience. Then there’s the disaffected and slightly ethereal vocals and a plethora of additional rhythms, which almost (the keyword is almost) make this track sound like a certified banger (as kids would say).
Intriguing, to say the least. “Scissor” provides a little glimpse into what could turn out to be a far more complex affair and I’m certainly curious where Slaylor Moon would go from here.
Zone of Pure Resistance is out on Aug. 16 via Maple Death Records
