Song Premiere: Mother Moses – Bowling Shoes

You might be a king or a little street sweeper but sooner or later you dance with the reaper.

Picking up on a quote from Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey is Pennsylvania duo Mother Moses. Bowling Shoes, first single off of their upcoming EP of the same name, deals with mortality (as does the rest of the record).
For a song that tackles a particularly heavy subject Bowling Shoes sounds surprisingly upbeat – a slow and spectacular viking funeral rather than traditional burial ceremony with criers involved. Think a combination of Murder Ballads and one of Ween’s numbers (especially with a guitar solo breaking out in the middle). While Gene and Dean never pondered mortality in their own lyrics, there are signs that both Bowling Shoes and EP its named after are, indeed, rather brown.
Bowling Shoes EP is out on July 12 on Before the World Ends Tapes
