Reviews

A pulsating, ’80s noir beat opens Heaven Is a Face before we get some chanting vocals. Things grow to a hypnotic groove which then suddenly breaks before building back again. It tears up the rulebook of popular music yet somehow really works. I’ve heard very little like it. – Graeme Smith / York Calling

Sleazy blues and trashy electronics – The Letter

Dunno why I like it. Don’t really have a preferred style (or taste tbf) , but its wonderful. Wish I had the CD. WCW is a superstar (in waiting lol) and Diana Crash’s vocals are super peachy. Just right on the spot for whatever Bill cooks up. I’ve played it over & over since I got the DL. Really hope they do more stuff together & this is the start of something beautiful. Lo-fi electro kosmisch psychedelia reading my mind. – Monkton Wylde

This minimal nowave is 2025 post-fascist Amerikkka but has a similar vibe to mid 70s UK or late 70s Australia. It’s sad how some things never seem to change, but at least we have artists like Whitten and Crash to continue giving voice to “the proletarians of love.”- Scott

This album from William Carlos Whitten & Diana Crash is an odd one! I find contradictions when working it out. It’s subdued with a limited color palette, but still brings a lively force? It’s messy and collected? It’s like that optical illusion that runs away when you look at it, hard to pin down! – Alex Tripp

if estrogen could’ve fixed lou reed, she would’ve sounded a little like this – manic pixie dickgirl
