4 by Thor & Friends finds Thor Harris (and friends!) building elaborate percussive labyrinths that are as rhythmically rich as they are a joy to listen to. Marimba and vibraphone make these complex songs and arrangements surprisingly colorful and inviting.
The second addition to the ever-growing list of ALC’s successes, the second album Night Transfigured, Vol. 2 holds unusually lullabies on subjects ranging from meteor showers to children singing at the Thanksgiving dinner table, rendered in a multitude of vibrant colors by ALC.
So much music in the pauses — some musing, some ominous, each one drawing me back, my restlessness overruled by curiosity: What comes next?
