A-Z of Amphetamine Reptile – Tad

Wikipedia Page

Popular Seattle band which never achieved multi-platinum success of some of their peers, but still remains a favorite among many fans. Tad was formed in 1988 by Tad Doyle and Kurt Danielson, who met at a Christian potluck dinner. The original line-up also included drummer Steve Wied and guitarist Gary Thorstensen.  They recorded a whole number of albums and singles for labels like Sub Pop (they were also among the first bands signed to the label), AmRep and Up Records.  They also toured with the likes of Nirvana and Soundgarden, but were dropped from Elektra Records in 1996 due to disappointing record sales.  Their last record was 1998 single “Oppenheimer’s Pretty Nightmare”/”Accident On The Way To Church” on Up Records.
Doyle formed Hog Molly in 2001 and Hoof, who never produced any records. His current band called Brothers of The Sonic Cloth is extremely popular in Seattle night clubs. A documentary on the band called “Busted Circus and Ringing Ears” appeared in 2008 and some of their unreleased material as well as new songs is expected for 2008 and 2009.
