Upcoming Music Releases – Fucked Up – David Comes To Life (Matador)

“David Comes To Life” is a third studio album from Canadian hardcore/punk band Fucked Up.  The band describes the album as “a rock opera set in a fictional British town during Margaret Thatcher’s administration”.

From here on out, don’t go calling Fucked Up a simple punk band. Sure, their name has a curse word in it, but these Canadians are capable of some truly intellectual musical creations. Take, for instance, their upcoming albumDavid Comes to Life. The record, the follow-up to 2008′s Chemistry of Common Life, promises to be a concept album that will hit stores June 7th (via Pitchfork). Fuck yeah!
Courtesy of their Looking for Gold blog, the band posted a photo that features various plot points and/or album lyrics. So far, the band has revealed that the album will be a rock opera set in a fictional British town during Margaret Thatcher’s administration. To further flesh out the mythos of the LP, the band is also planning on recording songs as fictional bands that live in the fictional town, with a release date tentatively set for Record Store Day on April 16th.
