Стук бамбука в XI часов (The Knocking Sounds of Bamboo Sticks at Eleven Hours) is a band from Izhevsk, Russia, USSR. Formed in the late 1980-s, they were probably the first avant-garde artists to experiment with such genres as ambient, IDM and trip-hop in an electro-acoustic manner that nobody after them managed to recreate. They only made one self-released album on a magnetic tape, which was copied in hundreds and became a revelation for many to-be electronic musicians.
But above all, they—like nobody in those years—managed to capture the atmosphere of decadence that dominated the Soviet life before it was all over. These are the journeys into the psyche of a nation with no destination, no hope and enough dignity to embrace this whole feeling.
