From picture on the cover of HoM’s debut to the name of the project (which is headed by one John Kline), anything about Halls of Mars feels like the whole thing is (intentionally) retro – not that its a bad thing!
All the synth action that takes place on “Surfin’ Tsunami” (aforementioned debut) makes me think of a long lost sci-fi movie (or a modern day movie about long lost sci-fi movie). There’s all kinds of genre-hopping in store to satisfy the most demanding synth/electro/ambient freak – from slow and somewhat dark opener “Wax Works” to a potential arcade video game soundtrack (“Chim Chim’s New Rims”).
Note – you can stream the record here and see for yourself whether this record is actually capable of bringing anyone back into the past.
