Review – G.L.O.S.S. – Trans Day of Revenge

Considering recent chain of events, I say that G.L.O.S.S. dropping an EP couldn’t have come at a better time than this.
For those who had been living under a rock, a man who was accused of being a wifebeater as well as a musclehead, recruited two more men in the shooting up of an Orlando nightclub. The catch is that the nightclub caters mostly to LGBT clientele. Mix this with the absurd transgender bathroom bill, and you have got an obvious reason for people within that niche to be angry. And so, Sadie Switchblade proclaims “when peace is just another word for death, it’s our turn to give violence a chance!” It’s obvious that Sadie isn’t interested in breaking bread with the enemy, if she ever was, especially since the enemy constantly thinks her hands are coated with Lisa Frank glitter and HIV.
In the same song, Sadie sticks up against police brutality, where as other songs touches upon family drama, trauma, and male terrorism to which the last song “Trans Day of Revenge” answers to that with confidence as well as pointed anger.
“PUT THROUGH HELL, TORN APART/CHICKS WITH DICKS KILL FROM THE HEART/
UNTAMED WOMEN SCARRED BY MEN/WE BREAK THE CYCLE WITH REVENGE”
“Out From the Desk” is Switchblade’s real call to arms, as people within the LGBT tag are called to ditch peace for the retaliation of anything that has oppressed them. Considering a history of mistreatment, trauma and being thrown underneath buses by both gay people and straight people alike, I wouldn’t be surprised if the violence from here starts rising within days, if not minutes.
