Quarantine Interviews: Martin Atkins

Joining Public Image Ltd during the making of Metal Box, drummer Martin Atkins stayed through three albums and then played with Nine Inch Nails, Killing Joke and Ministry. Not content with just playing, Atkins started a record label (with 350 releases to date) and began teaching college-level courses on the music biz, writing popular textbooks and working on a long-term book project about his years in PiL. Through it all, he has continued to play with Pigface, his ‘supergroup’ comprised of old friends and collaborators. – Please Kill Me

We got a true legend in the house. As stated above, Marteeeen is a man of immense talents and we’re not just talking musical ones. Case in point – his commands to get the eff out of bed became so legendary that they were now turned into a successful product of their own. Enter “Stay the F*ck Inside Combo”.

You never let a serious crisis go to waste, as they say…and now you can also drink your coffee while listening to any Marteeen’s bands right after getting the eff out of bed and staying inside. Yes, its all mandatory.

In the meantime, read our (quarantine) interview with the man. And don’t forget to browse our archives

How are you dealing with quarantine?

Letting people download my third , 600!page book for free at http://martinatkins.com, printing stay the fuck inside bags and shirts and giving to small business owners, hanging with family playing boggle and eating around the table and getting ready to plant in the garden which we are so lucky to have.

We did the first in a series of webinars too – that felt awesome AF!

What advice would you give to other musicians/artists dealing with it?

stop thinking what isn’t and start thinking what can, we are artists – used to solving impossible problems – do that ! Be active and help others. Read, learn, keep differentiating yourself NOW
