Music Festivals // Boston Fuzzstival: Brief History – 2013/2017

The goal of Fuzzstival is to celebrate the local psych/fuzz scene. We are interested in building bridges within the local music community, and we want as many people involved as possible.

Fuzzstival, the brainchild of Jason Trefts of Illegally Blind, is one of Boston’s greatest annual music festivals. It’s three separate days that bring people closer to the awesome local and regional music that we might miss on our Spotify radios and Pandora stations. It expands the breadth of our community by getting us all together to connect around homespun musical acts. There are many talented local bands within the helix of the psychedelic-garage-noise-folk-rock genres, and they will be the cardinal sound of the weekend daze. We can also look forward to the spotlight (and on Saturday, the sun, hopefully) shining on a myriad of kickass female-led bands. – Allston Pudding

An apology is owed! We’ve been neglecting Boston Fuzzstival for too long for reasons not entirely clear – covering it just once, back in 2018. No malice on I Heart Noise part, though. Honest. We love our indie/psychedelic rock/avant festivals…be it Moogfest, Hopscotch, Big Ears or BlueDot.

As a way of rectifying this awful mistake, we offer an overview of previous years of Fuzzstival and bands that played them. 2024 edition is upon us as well and will be examined thoroughly come October.
