Listen: Brooklyn on Bandcamp, Vol. 1 // Guest Mix by Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)

Tonight’s mix comes courtesy of a very special guest – Brian Chase from Yeah Yeah Yeahs!!! In addition to drumming for YYY he also is/was a member of Karen O and the Kids, Pale Horse, The Seconds and The Sway Machinery.

Brian also got a growing solo discography that consists of numerous collaborations (Alan Licht and Andrea Parkins, to name a few), his ongoing Drums and Drones series and a 7″ he put out in 2013 on NYCIn Context Music. Much of his solo work explores different shades of experimental music, avantgarde, noise and free jazz, so there probably won’t be much of interest to YYY fan/follower, but for the rest of us there’s plenty to sink teeth into!

Given the direction his solo career took its no surprise that the mix he made for us is a kaleidoscope of colorful sonic oddities (entirely Brooklyn based, of course). There’s Gold Dime, new project of Andrya from Talk Normal (whom we first witnessed at this year’s Northside), ex-Bostonians Guerilla Toss, drummer extraordinaire Greg Fox and many others – 13 tracks all in all. So dive in and pass the word along!
