I Heart Noise Fest 2025 // Who’s Who / Bios

Petridisch

Thor Maillet is the sole member of Petridisch, an electronic music project out of Boston, MA, USA. Equally influenced by the work of Philip Glass and Mylene Farmer, Petridisch’s music explores the greyer areas of the psyche with inevitable elements of light and humor. The end result is a hazy, yet somehow also crystal clear, image of both the past and the future.

Solo keyboard wizard out of Boston – the one and only so far, accept no imitations! Petri’s music runs the gamut from neo-classical to dungeon synth to drone. He also runs Fish Prints, that released his own material as well as records by Barbara Morgenstern, Lida Husik and The Nelories, among many others.

FPs most recent release, as of June 2025, is a sampler entitled Washing the Clothes Go Round. Petridisch’s own releases from 2025 include Tweks, Aperitifs (out on TexasFourth World) and a collaborative project How Much whose debut 083024.vacantdreams is out on Ingrown Records / Infinity Dungeon labels.

Skyjelly

Skyjelly: a psychedelic, desert-blues trip to where the sun is hot and the color of paradise is green. Formed by longtime musical collaborators Skyjelly Jones and Scott Sheik Levesque, this duo channels their collective love of pop, world music and improvisation into a mesmerizing sonic experience.

Another one-man project – this one run by Rick “Skyjelly” Jones whose involvement in music goes back to the early 90s! His meld of improv, psych, drone and ambience is often compared to bands like Can and Animal Collective, but by no means is a copycat of either. Skyjelly’s most recent album as of 2025 is Spirit Guide – co-release between IHN, Mahorka (Bulgaria) and Wormhole World (UK). There’s also a slew of recent singles – Damaskiss, Maseve, Once in a While, Best Drag and GOOD2BGOOD2.

Solilians

Solilians

… a dream laden , slow motion drone that stretches out like a mirage fuelled ride through a burning desert…like lost horizons to the soul mixed with haunted vocals and a rich musical atmosphere that takes you deep within the mysteries, the sound pure and lingering long in your memory, psychedelic and very beautiful – Simon Lewis, Terrascope

There’s a reason we featured both Solilians and Skyjelly on the same vinyl split. They represent yin and yang, so to speak – where latter explores Middle Eastern themes, Solilians are relentless explorers of Jewish mysticism through lens of space rock and psychedelia. Led by Ben Solilian (also head honcho of Goodbye Better label), their repertoire ranges from a spacey tribute to Star Trek/Leonard Nimoy (Shin), to banjo-driven American Klezmische. There’s also a family tree of related bands/projects that include Electric Djinn, Earthly Frames, Ideas are Birds and Yar Dreams of Sela.

Samara Lubelski / Bill Nace

As Wiki attests, Bill and Samara collaborated with anyone and everyone – from Thurston Moore to Fiery Furnaces to Kim Gordon to Yoko Ono. Whew!

Speaking of collaborations…one that took place the night of our fest was based off last year’s 43/80 LP on 3Lobed. Think Theatre of Eternal Music or Terry Riley or Velvet Underground at their noisiest and you’re halfway there. Intense is an understatement.

Windy & Carl

Windy & Carl

Ambient / Dream Pop / Shoe Gaze (even called Space Rock by Magnet Magazine): windy weber and carl hultgren began releasing records in 1993. the duo both play guitars, bass and keys on their recordings, with occasional vocals from windy. over 27 years they have released numerous albums, singles and comps, and their newest – Alegiance and Conviction, is on kranky records and garnering great reviews

Last, but not least – our magnificent headliners! Not to downplay what Labradford or Bowery Electric meant for ChicagoKranky, but it is Windy Weber and Carl Hultgren aka Windy & Carl that, in my humble view, are the quintessential Kranky band. Here’s a fun fact – W&C last played Providence in 1997, as part of Terrastock festival. That’s almost 30 years ago for all you math nerds out there.

And so it brings me a great pleasure to announce that Windy & Carl closed our fest with a medley of The Sun and Set Adrift, setting everyone in the room on a blissful path for a good hour or so. The memories will last far beyond this one night.

P.S. – Don’t forget to go through a playlist of all the fest performances + cool extras! As Uncle Baby Bruce put it – Can’t believe I was working Post Malone instead of this
