Guest Mix – Twink the Toy Piano Band

Twink is Mike Langlie, an artist and musical mad scientist living near Boston, MA. One day Mike found an old toy piano in a thrift store and a fun new music project was born.
Mike’s most recent release is 2015 Dust Bunny and in 2016 he also recorded a cover of Devo’s It’s a Beautiful World

Blacksage – Repeat

Drew Scott’s spooky electro production and Josephine Olivia’s sensuous voice are perfect together.

Rumpistol featuring Ane Trolle – Eyes Open Wide

Quirky Danish footwork counterbalanced by dreamy vocals.

Joanne Pollock -Might be Wrong

One-half of the band Poemss (with fellow Canadian Aaron Funk of Venetian Snares), Joanne Pollock holds her own as a master of skittery, squiggly computer rhythms. Her deceptively simple singing style expresses both longing and contentedness.

Thomas Nöla & the Black Hole  – Animals as Children

Primarily known for piano-heavy dark cabaret, Thomas Nöla explores an icy 80’s synthscape reminiscent of Bowie’s Berlin period.

Nadine Shah – Fast Food

Nadine Shah’s deep, confident voice has been my favorite discovery of the year. And what a striking album cover.

Kelli Schaefer – Giants

Lovely (and sometimes weird) exploration of textures and ambience. It’s like discovering ghosts singing in the center of the forest.

Dorthia Cottrell – Gold

True American Gothic atmosphere from the singer of Windhand.

Bohren & Der Club of Gore – Unrasiert

Super slow and smoky “doom jazz” that wouldn’t be out of place in Twin Peaks’ Black Lodge.
