Muslimgauze was nom de plume of British musician Bryn Jones who died in 1999. What he left behind was a massive collection of records that contained anything from field recordings to ethnic to experimental music (and were also a reflection of his political views, especially the conflict in the Middle East). As of 2010, reissues of his old material (as well as unreleased recordings) are still appearing on such labels as Staalplaat, Waystyx and Soleilmoon.
“El Tafkeera” is a tribute to Jones – originally, it was only available as a CDr, but now, thanks to archive.org, anyone can download/listen to the album.

This project was realized by members of the Islamaphonia list after Bryn Jones’s untimely death. It is a tribute to the works of Muslimgauze and the passion for Palestinian sovereignty. These 2CDs of songs (with an additional disc of extra remixs) were originally hosted on a personal site for free download and also offered (may still be?) at a minimal price from Chris Reider of the Vuzh Music label for those who did not possess the capabilities and tools to download and burn. For a while, El Tafkeera had been shared primarily through p2p networks, and it is now available here.
