Timothy Snyder – On Tyranny / Wish me luck – I’m diving in – Don Curren
Norman Ohler – Blitzed: Drugs in the Third Reich / I read this book last year and I just keep thinking about it. Feels like there’s always something that reminds me – Cheer Captain
Viktor Klemperer – The Language of the Third Reich / Yes the Gulf of America thing is idiotic but the thing to remember is it’s part of a deliberate effort to restructure behavior and mindsets through officially sanctioned language; it’s chaotic at the moment but could cohere or accumulate into something worse. This book is a good guide here – Mark Doyle
Kristin Hannah – The Four Winds / Texas, 1921, a young lady gets pregnant before marriage. She moves in with the baby’s dad’s family. By the 1930s, drought has all but destroyed their farm. The lady & her kids head west, become migrant workers, & fight for fair pay. Heavy stuff. I liked it – Andy Mascola
