10 Releases From 2008 – Harry Pussy – You'll Never Play This Town Again

Although bands like Miami, FL Harry Pussy rarely get their “best-of” compilations, Load made an exception in this case. Easily, one of the most abrasive bands in the history of American music (if not music in general), a trio of Dan Hosker, Bill Orcut and Adris Hoyos stuck around for almost a decade, before playing their final show in 1997. One compilation of their early material was 1996 “What Was Music” which came out on Siltbreeze label in 1996, although it only included material from 1992 to 1995, omitting any documentation of the final years of band’s existence. This year, Load Records finally issued the compilation spanning all of the band’s career from the early 90s to their final May 5th, 1997 show.
This compilation collects 42 tracks, which collects tracks from most of their records and also includes covers of 4-second ODFX’s original “Drop A Bomb On Me”, Teenage Jesus & The Jerks’s “Orphans” and Kraftwerk’s “Showroom Dummies”.
Tiny Mix Tapes website described the record as “an exhaustingly comprehensive document of some of Harry Pussy’s greatest accomplishments.” and pointed out that “even in today’s suddenly overcrowded and overexposed ‘noise’ scenes, these 11-year-old recordings sound just as visceral, shocking, and frightening as they no doubt did to audiences way back when there was little precedent for this bedlam.”
