Mark Barton - The Sunday Experience - Losing Today

As reported on February 18 by God is in the TV editor/founder Bill Cummings:

Rest in Peace the legend that was Mark Barton who sadly lost his battle with cancer this evening. Mark spent over two decades championing independent music. Love to him and his family.

We’re incredibly grateful to Mark for covering our own Skyjelly via his website The Sunday Experience on multiple occasions – in 2016 (review of Blank Panthers, Priest, Expert or Wizard) and 2017 (video for Catherine’s Rabbi). TSE archives go all the way back to 2013, so we highly recommend everyone to browse those and the website (plus there’s also an archive of Mark’s writings on GIITV). You can also donate to Cancer Research UK.

Few more quotes about Mark from around the web/social media:

Been thinking about the untimely passing of . Mark was the first person to ever write about my music & although he probably didn’t realise, that first review had a huge positive effect on me. Thanks so much for the kind words Mark. RIP – suncurves

So sorry to learn that writer is no longer with us after an all too brief battle with cancer. He was a real champion of underground music and he supported all my music projects since the very first WTL demo way back in 2007. – Wizards Tell Lies

I’m really going to miss . He was such a shining beacon for any psychedelic/experimental musician struggling to get someone with a pen to care about their music; they don’t make ’em like Mark anymore. – Prana Crafter

Mark Barton, the former editor of Losing Today magazine whose The Sunday Experience blog has been a brilliant resource for “strange sounds for freaky people”, has sadly died. Another big loss for the electronic music community. RIP Mark. – Electronic Sound

Farewell and thank you for your service, Mark. You will be missed.
