Few days left to Bandcamp Friday...
So what do you recommend?
Both of these were suggested via Bandcamp daily Both albums bend genres and both albums use heavy metal as a starting point.
These are doing it for me this last month or so…
Comacozer / Blown Out – In Search of Highs Vol 1
Spaced / tripped out rock done proper and a ‘good in’ on both bands for the uninitiated as well. Bought this a couple of years ago and see there are only a couple left on the Riot Season BC page, always worth checking Riot Season’s Big Cartel site if BC says sold out...
Bushpilot – Already!
Mooney-esque vocals give it Can feel but with a post punk twist, this is ALL GOOD. I’ve not bought this yet but seeing as I’ve streamed it off BC 4 or 5 times it’s got to be a must for this Friday.
Forbidden Place Records https://forbiddenplacerecords.bandcamp.com/album/ed-hall-permission-to-rock-denied
ED HALL – Permission to Rock Denied
Unreleased for years apparently which I cannot understand at all. It’s been on my stereo at least once a day for weeks and weeks and weeks. Pay what you want…
Skingraft Records https://skingraftrecords.bandcamp.com/album/camp-skin-graft-now-wave
Camp Skin Graft – Now Wave
5 measly dollars for 33 tracks of glorious Noise Rock. US Maple, Melt Banana, Brise Glace, Dazzling Killmen, Zeni Geva, UFO or Die, Strangulated Beatoffs, Shorty, Cheer-Accident and the list goes on and on. You owe it to yourself to buy this.
Wrong Speed Records https://wrongspeedrecords.bandcamp.com/album/that-what-you-hit
Sweat Williams – That What You Hit
I missed out on the vinyl from this direct from the label and found a shop copy, it’s not out until 18th Sept though and BC don’t want me to stream it anymore. Balls, I can’t even listen to it now to remind myself how good it is… Machine rhythms cut with sinewy guitar, threatening vocals all the more powerful for the restrained delivery. You can get all three releases on the label as DL for £10.50, a steal.
Easy Prey – Relentless Struggle https://easyprey.bandcamp.com/album/relentless-struggle-2
Absolutely brutal and heavy as fuck. Again, daily plays over the last month or so here. Immediately taken with it and it hasn't worn off in the slightest. Curse those US to UK postal rates would love a vinyl copy of this.
Bobby Lee - Shakedown in slabdown.
Bada Bada - I.
Analog players Society - TITLED.
AMMAR 808 - Global Control/Invisible Invasion.
Bright Dog Red - Somethin' Comes Along.
Three Lobbed Recordings at 20 - An Overview.
Bandcamp Friday picks for 02/10, for all the fuckedupness of 2020 so far the music is shit hot...
Bornwithhair – https://bornwithhair.bandcamp.com/album/smole-ska
This wonderful creation is Bornwithhair’s second release this year. A metal album born out of a DIY aesthetic it’s been much played here over the past month or so… What keeps me coming back is how unhinged it is, like a black metal Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter in some ways, totally out there, never predictable, always engaging.

Other Horrible Animals – ST https://otherhorribleanimals.bandcamp.com/releases
Straight forward no messing nose rock from Austin Texas on the 1407 label (Easy Prey etc). They say FFO Shellac, Drive Like Jehu, Jesus Lizard. It hits the mark. Would love the vinyl but those US > UK shipping rates again! Still bargainous on DL…

KLÄMP - Hate You https://klamp.bandcamp.com/album/hate-you
The best opening track you will hear in 2020, on of the best albums you’ll hear in 2020. The sound is completely crushing and there is ludicrously heavy sax all over, which at the moment has me sold every time. Tasty Vinyl still available + DL.
Coriky – Coriky https://coriky.bandcamp.com/album/coriky
Fugazi related and excellent, you need this.
Acidliner – Red-1 https://acidliner.bandcamp.com/
I had no idea what I was signing up for when I bought this, but as I love acid and it’s Hey Colossus related getting it was a no brainer. What I got was an album of delicate bubbling acid that stands playing on repeat time and again. Essential.
ONLY 4 LEFT ON VINYL!
Duma – Duma https://nyegenyegetapes.bandcamp.com/album/duma
This record by Duma, a metal band from Uganda is fucking nuts, it’s a collision of industrial, grindcore and multi-layered electronics. Utterly compelling, it’s drawn me in completely. They are featuring on The Tusk Virtual 2020 festival this week, not to be missed.
