On July 28th, Drug Rug (Cambridge, MA) and Tune-Yards are going to play a show at Museum of Fine Arts as part of the museum’s Concerts In The Courtyard series.
Cambridge-based duo Drug Rug combines their vocals to create their “brand of sunshine lo-fi that teeters on the shrill end, a la the beginnings of electric-Dylan” (Spin). With a folk style and rock inspiration, Drug Rug offers a fresh new take on the rules.
“Curious and ingenious and often irresistible” (The New York Times), Merrill Garbus (aka tUnE-YarDs) has established a unique sound and do-it-yourself technique. For her 2009 debut, Bird-BrAins, Garbus recorded ambient sounds, vocals, and ukulele, then used her laptop to create the album, which was one of Pitchforks’ top 50 albums of 2009.
